Peace Corps Public Affairs Intern

This position is located in the regional recruiting offices. The primary function of the incumbent is to support the Public Affairs Specialist (PAS) in achieving the marketing, advertising, public affairs and media relations goals of the regional offices.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Assists the PAS with communication links with Returned Peace Corps Volunteers (RPCVs) and RPCV groups
  1. Assists the PAS to support the regional recruitment staff through the creation of outreach materials such as electronic messages, flyers, posters, bookmarks and postcards.
  1. Assists the PAS to draft press releases and lead generation marketing materials; place advertisements, compile and distribute press kits.
  1. Maintains a system to track effectiveness of advertising and lead generation efforts.
  1. Assists PAS in implementing electronic marketing (E-marketing) strategies and programs to reach targeted market sectors ( e.g., posting of assignment descriptions on job search engines, placement of Peace Corps banner ads, etc.)
  1. Maintains a database of contacts and mailing lists for lead generation marketing, advertising and publicity activities.
  1. Produces a variety of materials from draft and handwritten copy.
  1. Supports the regional office staff with the coordination and enhancement of recruitment and general awareness events such as art shows, panel discussions, and nomination parties and other events.
  1. Receives and processes incoming “Hometowner” news documents for transcription to releases.
  1. Provides customer service to applicants and the public.
  1. Assists office retention efforts by monitoring applicant status logs to ensure that requested information is received; initiates retention related follow-up calls and email to applicants.
  1. Other duties as assigned including but not limited to: making travel arrangements; scheduling meetings and appointments; requisitioning materials and equipment; maintaining the stock of recruitment materials; and preparing information packets.
