Friends of the World Food Program (httpp://www.friendsofwfp.org) is a US-based non-profit organization dedicated to building support for the U.N. World Food Program (WFP) and other hunger relief organizations. A rapidly growing organization, Friends of World Food Program is seeking a fall intern starting in September for 15-20 hours three days per week to support the needs of the development department.

In addition to gaining experience working with non-profit organizations, fundraising, and hunger issues, interns will have the opportunity to attend conferences and lectures in Washington DC.

Essential Functions

1. Process incoming donations and acknowledgments to donors.
2. Maintain donor database.
3. Provide support for annual awards ceremony event.
4. Carry out special projects and other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required
- Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office applications.
- Excellent written, verbal and organizational skills.
- Ability to organize time, work independently, follow directions, and complete tasks in an effective manner.
- Skill in coordinating tasks and projects.

National Environmental Trust (NET) is looking for a press intern to start in late August/early September.

Job Responsibilities: Conduct research for radio, television, print and online media stories, organize media events, assist with paid advertising projects and pitch stories to print and broadcast press. In addition, the press intern may be responsible for tracking legislation and press coverage, researching bills and members' records and attending congressional hearings and press briefings.

Qualifications: Previous volunteer work on a political campaign or in a politically-charged setting; writing and editing skills; interest in communications; and some background with environmental, conservation or other public interest groups.

Organization Description:
The Center for Global Prosperity (CGP) is one of 13 policy centers at the Hudson Institute, a nonprofit, nonpartisan innovation-oriented policy research organization in Washington, D.C. At the Center, we provide a platform—through conferences, discussion, publications, and media appearances—to create awareness among U.S. and international opinion leaders as well as the general public, about the central role of the private sector, both for-profit and not-for-profit, in the creation of economic growth and prosperity in the developing world. The Center’s core publication is an annual Index of Philanthropy, which details the sources and magnitude of private giving to the developing world.

Hudson Institute’s Center for Global Prosperity is offering an exciting opportunity to contribute to the annual Index of Global Philanthropy through research, writing and data analysis through the CGP internship program. Interns will also meet with experts in the field of international development and play an integral role in the Index’s production.

CGP interns have gone on to work for the World Bank, the Gates Foundation, the Academy for Educational Development, the Koch Foundation and the Catholic Diocese.

Responsibilities include:
- Identifying successful development projects and conducting interviews with key program staff and publishing results in the 2008 edition of the Index of Global Philanthropy,
- Researching the role of the private sector in development with senior staff ,
- Assisting with maintaining distribution lists of Center's international and domestic contacts including professional staff in the private and public sectors, and
- Assisting with event planning and execution.

Qualifications:
CGP interns are self-starters with a strong interest in what creates economic growth in the developing world. Candidates should be able to work autonomously as well as be part of a team, manage their time wisely and meet deadlines. Candidates must be reliable, professional, and possess excellent writing, communication and interpersonal skills. Candidates should be proficient in Microsoft Office applications. Interning at least three full days a week for three months beginning in September 2007 is preferred.

United Nations Foundation
Public Affairs Intern


•Work closely with the Internet & Communications teams to upgrade our multiple websites and upkeep our online database and advocacy tools;
•Help produce newsletters, action alerts, and other communication tools;
•Help facilitate our efforts at online fundraising;
•Attend meetings, coalition events and related conferences; and
•Provide administrative support including:
•Compilation and analysis of metrics;
•Data entry: Entering information on new and existing supporters in the database and listservs; and
•Office functions: Assist with mailings and other related administrative work to support UN Foundation’s grassroots, fundraising and policy activities.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
The following criterion is used to determine eligibility for the Public Affairs Intern :
• Applicants should be enrolled in a degree-granting program in an undergraduate or graduate school during the internship.
• Applicants should have a strong background in web design and preferably video editing paired with a passion for international issues. Attention to detail is essential.
• Applicants should have a broad understanding of social networking with examples of current and successful uses of online networks – for example, blogging, Youtube, Facebook.com, Myspace.com;
• Applicants should possess good analytical and organizational skills; and, proficiency in use of computer and Internet research, familiarity with video editing desirable. HTML, Flash, Dreamweaver, and Photoshop very helpful.

OVERALL FORMAT OF THE PROGRAM
• UNF hosts a semester long internship program during the Fall, Spring, and Summer school sessions.
• The UNF offers full and part-time paid and unpaid internships. The number of each kind of internship offered will depend on the needs of the various departments.
• Intern duties and responsibilities will vary according to the assignment.
